The Barghest is a terrifying creature from Northern English folklore, most famously associated with Yorkshire. Typically depicted as a monstrous, coal-black hound with glowing "saucer" eyes and razor-sharp claws, it is often viewed as an omen of death or a guardian of the underworld.
